Three hundred (300) people participated in the Shout Out! March & Celebration that was staged in Media, Delaware County, on Saturday, January 16, 2016.

Chester Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland joined Beverly Wright, President of Women of Strength United for Change and the mother of a son lost to gun homicide, and Terry Rumsey and Robin Lasersohn, Co-Chairs of Delco United, as speakers at the Kickoff Rally held at the Media Friends Meeting House.  Singer-songwriters Jean Lenke and Dani Ocean provided a musical send off.

A throng of chanting, drumming, and whistling marchers carried a festive array of American flags, banners, and signs through Media on a one mile march that was viewed by thousands of motorists on Baltimore Pike and pedestrians shopping on State Street.  A steady blare of honking horns signaled mass support for the messages displayed by marchers.

After the march, participants returned to the Meeting House to enjoy cake and coffee, warm fellowship, and more music from Jean Lenke and Dani Ocean.

The event received media coverage from the Chester Spirit, theDelaware County Daily Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer and NBC 10television.

The Delaware County Daily Times gave front-page coverage and published a video online and a full page of color photographs of the march in the printed edition. Click here for the coverage.
