Action on Universal Background Checks

Join us for a Demonstration outside State Representative Stephen Barrar’s office in Chadds Ford (One Beaver Valley Road, Chadds Ford) on Thursday, Jan. 30th from 4pm to 5 pm. Rain or Shine.

Because of the hard work of the members like you, 10 out of 11 State Representatives from Delaware County – including five Republicans and five Democrats – have co-sponsored House Bill 1010.  This legislation will require background checks for the private sales of long guns (including military style assault weapons), closing the only background check loophole in Pennsylvania.

We’ve made amazing progress but…our work on HB 1010 in Delaware County is not done.  It’s not done until we can convince Representative Barrar — the lone holdout — to co-sponsor HB 1010.  Why won’t Representative Barrar support HB 1010?  We don’t know.  He has refused to meet with his own constituents who are supporters of HB 1010.

The voters in Pennsylvania House District 160 and from throughout Delaware County deserve to know why Representative Barrar wants to make it easier for individuals with a criminal record or a history of mental instability to buy a military-style assault weapon.  Public opinion polls report that nearly 90 percent of constituents in Delaware County support universal background checks.

We need you to join us on Thursday, January 30th from 4:00 to 5:00 pm outside Representative Barrar’s office in Chadds Ford to send a message that we want all of our legislators in Delaware County and Pennsylvania to support universal background checks.
